Hop legend and a welcome man at. Form a great coach of the LSU fighting Tigers coach Paul beat so coach date so thank you so much for joining us we appreciate it.

Well it's good to talk with you again are you do on.

Doing fine coaching you know about an hour talking about the the one copies of they call me coach the book that we got lazy when we spoke to you in. Just flat out almost -- is using that thing is -- it gone bankrupt kind of different quotes the stories of the bandits in the in the in the year the champion -- and then of course there's the Orioles are moving on a tremendous bowl.

Well thank you very much I appreciated. Withdrew wondered what I got myself into.

And in you know coach -- so you know lead with with the anniversary coming up with the Billy cannon -- a return run in. I guess it's. Is kind of nostalgia when you located L issue played Tulane this Saturday night. Well what are your memories -- with the two lane rivalry I gains in -- relishing it.

Well the first place what I came here are major. Our major competition with Tulane. And the utility was the coach -- that he was a good -- and really agree well. And we had I mean we really had to battle with two lane just to in recruiting well. Because two -- a very fine job of recruiting. And greatly is the he got little things ago -- it went well after we recruited them they're good players and all of a sudden I became a good coach. Before that time I was not a good -- and it now. I think we kind of recruiting a couple of esteem and we ended up with getting a lot of election -- lose -- players. And the shift. Our major rival became -- because. Then -- words really he was really doing. -- job with his team and they were very strong until. If we shifted away but it Tulane is still always will be one of the world real come competition we have here that would do.

Ankle deep so when you look at it made it to remain in his driver we talked to a -- a few moments ago when he was thought about how you know it's. It was a robbery it's not anymore busy busy dissed him back to to Tulane. Leaving the ACC or is or is it more to than ours is more maybe of an issue putting up. Of importance on what they felt was gonna you know be a huge -- universe and economic engine versus -- what how do you see. This traveling in Saturday night may be the last game they play.

Well. I would say that went to lane withdrew from the conference. That really changes the complexion. Because. You know one thing about the conference the Southeastern Conference is so strong. And they get a tremendous television package in and they elevated by that television package everybody in the conference -- here. And it cured no longer culprits. You -- getting here and that's a pretty good statement at the end of the year and frankly the fact that. There are no longer in the conference it kind of you know in the way it kind of changes the attitude your experience too I think because we -- know that the southeastern conference's. Certainly the stronger football conference. In the United States and the because of that being part of it. But look at Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt used to be we kitten but also Emeka pretty nasty and so. This can be done. And Vanderbilt in many ways it like to plane. Except that they have hung in there and they've got to be you don't just take them for granted anymore they're they're pretty strong football program.

And in our coach pizza when you watch college football these days it's all about trends and you know chess match trying to have you know the right over to scheme versus deep into the scheme when you're watching games today and you see all this no huddle. At this brand of offense option when he called on the play the line of scrimmage are you in favor that you -- old school like I have some time but whoever. Why is they gotta get no huddle decision and win the battle in the trenches that always. Trying to -- trick people.

Well you know.

I don't want to.

I don't really. Think hole out of the business of lining up. And then everybody everybody on the team terms -- from the sideline that there coach. And that coach tell them tell them what to do. And sometimes. Everyone on the same page. And of course by the time may -- get their message from the sidelines and then may. They look back. In line up again in the defense is gonna change I mean it's it's. A funny game I think that they play that I. I think it away. I -- kind of felt a poor plays run perfectly is the better great plays that someone screwed up. Because oh in needed 11. Or one grew up on each play and you know it's.

I just I dislike the idea of knowing what you gonna call and Cologne call and run. -- the line of -- of that play is not a good -- and then if you had to change that only because we -- that long time ago. But when I was coaching vital they'll change or -- or wide -- I would -- wait a minute what is going on here and I I'm not knocking the coaches have to they had this thing. I think it's. I just think it's entirely different game.

Former LSU coach Paul Dietz who is it would this year on WW well tiger's taken on two lane and we can't on WW coach. Gone back in and then though you had to sit down and talk to different people helping you with the book they call me coach in the -- you've always been close the game but. Conjuring up all of those memories intent and those stories that was all those in those people. Well what was the biggest thing Paul beats or found that struck him maybe as a memory jog your memory or something that maybe came across the thing you know this is what I miss most about the game.

Well but I think isn't comfortable at may be really miss coaching. And I I really do in this city the orientation. Of the interplay between you and your. And your players there's nothing. You know I've been 23. Reunions in the last month watched with -- on the West Point to a about a hundred my players and and that last week it would South Carolina who. About a quarter of players that I coach and then this week we're gonna have another reunion and -- players look. And frankly there's there's nothing that is much. And that he gave you more great memories and relationships that you get players. By the same -- What I remember how difficult it is to recruit. In the fact that -- recruiting never ceases you recruit year rental. And then there are sometimes. Some of the fan can become. A little bit so what you wish. A little bit difficult to deal with and so what I think about recruiting and some other -- that you -- that. Some of the fans idle minutes coaching role and misses being with the players with other than. You guys I didn't for a long long time and I and I enjoyed it wouldn't take it back for anything -- A La -- out of every five years it'll it'll leave anyone want --

There you know coach you talk about recruiting interesting now is in and that didn't you know -- has got so much about that you don't these planes and all -- I imagine it was a a word of mouth -- me to look we got the skewed opinion in -- to Alabama and all the wheezing and he becomes -- play you know and if you neighbor gets it hands on some stat to something like that you the that you really had hit the bushes did.

Well indeed you did and it was never ending job. You know you for example you. You you recruit used to use. Invite approach of fine recruit to the game. And so used you have to entertain them while they're here. And you try to over on the campus and you talk to about it academics were -- chosen it was so. And then you play that game and if you're lucky you win the game. That you have to go entertain them again and it matter fact that they spent that night you have to go -- and brick or shall I mean it's. It's a never ending thing and almost anything if you do. It's little tiresome after a while.

And -- up you know college days he mentioned 85 years of age and regulations. Because I mean 85 you sound about like 55 and -- you look at -- of outstanding job they've -- through the years the Bobby bowden's Joe Paterno you still amazed at their. -- coaching at a division one level at their prospective universities.

Well not really that. I I think one of the things is that. If you're coaching you coach for a long time. And you think it's about time -- to step down. Which you lot of -- do you have a real good year. And then you have your good your typical ones that are. I would stick around another and then you have a bad year valuable unequivocal and you've had a great year so basically. It's very difficult to figure out when there went around and yeah I think pride get in the that you know you just. You really got to meet the Uga because there are a lot of great things about that a -- the financial recuperation has changed quite a lot of time coach.

Coach polity to coach -- about it now always appreciate speaking to the it's we kind of scratch I insane man game paid to talk to coach the -- at some miracle week we appreciate your time coach thank you so much enjoy another visit to Tiger Stadium.

Well thank you very much I appreciate the call good looked Uga.

All right LSU coach called the excellent Bobby is as famed as -- McCain and Ron is that man right there is. Is being tiger lower for many years many people have come and go on you and how common goal and those -- the wealthy will always know coach the.

Well the eagle and every of the head honcho and you win a championship know that guy goes down in the history books. That's why you look we gonna be long gone always reflect in those championship scored -- Could save and you know less miles know it's hard to win a championship in the beauty guy in charge. You gonna get a lot of credit deservedly so.

And one thing was generous or -- but the -- you. Is he met when he -- an issue about him with the West Point anyway actually some people because of the time of the country in on forces in the military. Certainly signified the strength of the country not -- of the day. A lot of people who didn't wanna seen ghost is you know an obligation if its obligation. In its own right right I don't know do you have that Disney needs the now I agree with you. Coach Paula Neitzel right here on the home of the tiger Jonas thing to WW.
