And so the -- the digit actors and also the -- group the little people of America are very upset with this they say it's like hiring white actors to play back black characters. And then using affects to Alter their color. This is not necessarily a new debate. Now it's I guess the question is is it wrong for filmmaker. To use a person who is for example. Not mentally challenged to play a mentally challenged character. Is it wrong for a straight person to play a gay character America think of a lot of examples of that in the movie birdcage. Robin Williams played opposite Ted Nathan Lane as there are a gay dad. The movie in and outs Kevin Klein Tom -- they're straight they both played -- is it is that wrong it was it wrong for Hollywood to hire. Straight people to play the part of somebody who's gay and I think authenticity is a very important aspect of any movie. But Hollywood should be free to cast whoever it wants to. In a movie. And isn't that why they call it. Acting. Number six on tonight's list of the top eight at eight. A new -- has the top three best selling books in the country. Cop show. -- bush to a says when we work we work but when we get to play we play hard and you'll see that. In many of the episodes -- sounds like fun to make -- one of the reasons that there are so many TV shows in so many movies are being filtered out. It's because of the great tax credits that the state extends to the movie companies. And you know a lot of people think well why should they be making millions that you know they create a lot of jobs they've created an entire industry here. There was a time when maybe 34 movies a year were were done in New Orleans. And now I think it may be up to sixty year or seventy in and there are a -- so it's just an amazing and that there are people who have moved to LA. And it actually come back to New Orleans two to work. Because. -- there there's so much there's so much business here which at which is why we refer to this is as Hollywood south. But I -- recently we talked in the show about a new law that was passed by the end by the state legislature. Which. Does not extend tax credits to anybody wanting to do a porn movie. You know I -- just I I understand that we need to keep. Everybody's safe. But I got a problem with this. And this is not the first time something like this has come out in Denver and the had a Six Flags park. In downtown area. I believe some kid wanting to Wear his favorite football player's Jersey. And it was Dan Marino number thirteen. Miami Dolphins. But for some reason that had become. A symbol for a gang and maybe I'm maybe I'm wrong -- was another player but that's that's what I'm I'm I'm remembering. But any if any was a guy -- -- a kid I think he was like thirteenth he wanted to Wear the Jersey of his favorite player. He was told that he had to take the Jersey off. What if a gang and I know this is not gonna happen but just I think about it in theory. What are the gang decided to Wear seersucker suits. What with that due to all the attorneys in downtown New Orleans who after after Easter -- start wearing their seersucker suits. I guess it couldn't Wear seersucker suits because that would -- again and again this is just explaining this this theory that. We gang decides to adopt a rose three and suddenly rose who becomes the symbol of the gang wrong. I would promote the idea that every single person. Should Wear rose three they're four that would take it away from the power of the gangs. I'm just I'm I'm not in favor of gangs taking over some kind of fashion. And declaring invaders so suddenly something that somebody else is done all of their life for something that has been appropriate to the gang adopted it. Is somehow no longer appropriate I think it's wrong. And I think of the coolest Simonyi promoter at that high school in Minnesota. I guess our school for the for the summer but. Watching a movie. And a video that really shows a murder. And dismemberment. When when a video. A real murder and dismemberment associated with a current murder case hit the Internet. It attracted 300000. Hits. In a matter of four hours. It's a ten minute video online. Showing the stabbing and dismemberment. Of a Chinese student Montreal. You may have heard the story in the news. Recently following an international manhunt the suspect in the video 29 year old Luke meg not -- was arrested -- on Monday in Berlin. And this video is a video allegedly of a real murder that is part of the evidence in this case. One young person who viewed this video said if you have seen the saw movies you should be fine you could probably stomach better then most people. The graphic video is a key piece of evidence in this murder case. It is been copied and shared so many times. That are so authorities say it could never be totally deleted. When web site said the video god over 445000. Hits. And and crashed. Is this the dark. Demented side of the Internet. And there may be no way to stop this. Some people who have watched this video. Of this murder and this just this real dismemberment of of a body. Have have taken videos of themselves and their reactions and it's one teenager is is seen in a video Victor she posted on line. Well that what do you think that's gonna make people do. Is there a difference if if if this is something that. Depicts what happens in a movie like saw 1234 -- animated -- to 23 by now. If this depicts that is there a difference between watching a movie that depicts the same thing that you would see in a movie in in a video of a real murder or. Dismemberment. And we become so desensitized debts in it doesn't faze us to watch something that's real to -- believe that if we know something's a real. It doesn't even need to be as graphic. It's something from Hollywood. Because if we know it's real issue and beings. We and so much more to it in terms of of meaning and significance. Then we would if we thought it was something from Hollywood that's one of the things -- will talk about tonight. And I'm I'm sure that nobody listening to this show anywhere here and and in this area or across the country has seen the video if you have. Idea I I'd want to talk to number two what tonight's list of the top eight at eight. Texas highway may soon be the first highway in the country to have eight posted speed limit of 85 miles per hour. Is that too fast. The highway as part of -- -- road being built between Austin and San Antonio. An island to San Antonio -- spent on a lot of time and I 35 between San Antonio and Austin it's of it's about an hour drive. Turns a few little hills especially when you get to a San Marcos which is it. A very beautiful little town between San Antonio and Austin. The Texas Department of Transportation says that this is a straight flat stretch of highway well it's it's flat but it's not that -- I mean compared to this area. It's not that flat but it's not mountainous. And they say that this that this road is being built with the idea that it's gonna -- posted speed limit of 85 miles per hour. However the southwestern Insurance Information Institute -- warning. That higher speed limit means more accidents more injuries. And more deaths. If you run an open stretch of highway. Which you drive 85 miles per hour if that was the posted speed of one. I would. And I wanna set the record straight a -- I know that I constantly talk about it. About how people drive really fast. On the interstate -- new world sees between between spans and and highrise but I just said that I would driving 85. You know there's a difference between speed and stupidity. If I'm on an open highway and I have a car that's capable of good -- being stable 85 miles an hour hi I'm -- strife. 85. And I realize that we do spend a lot of times on the show talking about the number of accidents on the I ten in New Orleans east. And the number of people who speed on that stretch of highway also whose speed and tailgate not only that area but on the -- -- between Kenner and Baton Rouge. But it's not the speed that causes the the accident it's the stupidity. Now nobody should speed if there's a lot of traffic but if you -- on an open highway. Would you drive 85 miles per hour if that's the posted speed on it. And is there a stretch of interstate. In Louisiana or. Anywhere in the country. Did you think you'd have a higher posted speed element. And the current speed limit. I know there was talk one stretch of highway in May -- it was between Lafayette. An Alexandria or maybe was between Baton Rouge Alexandria I I don't remember maybe it was a Lafayette and Shreveport the you know more about this site. But -- I know we talked in the show not long ago about some -- interstate here and they are talking about raising the speed limit I wanna say it was up to 75. Is this a good thing or bad thing and if you're listening to our show in Texas tonight how do you feel about an 85 mile per hour speed limits on a highway between San Antonio. And Austin. Cast your -- at our website WW dot com and we'll continue to talk about that. And update you on that throughout our show and finally tonight it's time for the number one story on tonight's list of the top eight. -- There was downtown and I saw an advertisement on a street car on canal street did -- Not. The saints go marching hand. But the advertisement read the atheists. Of march again this is a mystery car on -- on canal street one of the Redlands. And maybe you've seen it elsewhere it's it's an advertisement for a conference that begins in New Orleans today. And runs through Sunday. Atheists. -- Free thinkers and skeptics. Are gathering in New Orleans today and through Sunday for the 71 annual American humanist association conference. The group wants to spread the idea that it's okay to be good. Without god. And there should be more recognition and equality. For atheists. And diagnostics. I have also won her and I haven't seen it live downtown but now I don't I don't drive that much right now so I haven't seen it yet. But apparently somewhere around around the superdome on pointers there is a billboard -- welcomes this convention to town and there's there's there's been some complaints about the the billboard. But isn't this billboard. Projecting this atheist message isn't this. Exactly what freedom of speech is about it. And I've heard that there had been some heated conversations about how can this be allowed. Wouldn't it scare you if an atheist billboard was banned. Because of its message. And again I think beyond that I'm I'm a Christian. But in the United States of America is and it's scary to ban a billboard because it's a message that you disagree with. I don't understanding an atheist but in this country certainly have a right to be an atheist and maverick political billboard for -- conference here in New Orleans. Do you think -- the billboards gonna change anybody's mind. And even if it did don't you think that person was already questioning their belief in god and their faith. And it really wasn't just the billboard that did at what happened to tolerance. You know tolerance includes messages. That we don't like. Is there anything wrong with. An atheist billboard. Or an advertisement that. Announces the atheists not the saints. Go marching -- And I would -- for a anybody who is. As seen -- you happen to see it tonight tickle me tell me what the billboard -- the superdome reads about about atheist if it's still up. Here's our number tonight 2601878. It may have a posted speed limit of 85 miles per hour if the speed limit was 85 which you drive 85. Isn't it stupidity -- not speed. At least two accepts. I'm -- we pushed around decent night's on the skyway if -- WLE 7 AM when a 53 FM. And -- WL dot com. When I moved from Miami to Seattle and I drove from Miami to Seattle idea I went up in. Went through Montana. And this was at a time when Montana did not have a speed limit at all. And I had I had a truck at the time and that to -- it was pretty weighted down and I mean I I it was an there was an open highway it was not mountainous it was a flat area of Montana. And I got to to a 110. And I thought that was comical now wasn't breaking the law and there wasn't any traffic around it was an open. Interstate highway so I thought that was it was safe we're talking about it a Texas highway that may soon become the first highway in the country. With -- posted speed limit of 85 miles per hour or is that too fast. Is to be told road built between Austin and San Antonio. And the Texas Department of Transportation says it's straight it's flat now again it's -- few Rolling Hills there. But tonight is is 85 to pass and if if there was a speed limit of 85. Would you drive it. Or would you go ten miles an hour over the speed limit like people. Do now or with that be fast enough and is there a stretch of highway. Anywhere in in Louisiana or anywhere where you live -- where you would drive where you'd like to see the speed limit. A little higher -- are talking about something I I solid system this past Monday. I walk into words to launch there's an advertisement on that one of the canal street street cars that reads not the saints go marching in but the atheists go marching -- And is also billboard near the superdome I don't know what it says if you don't waste as imminent call the show on. At least you would like to know what it says because their -- some complaints about the billboard. And this advertising because. It's a group of -- the 71 annual American humanist association conference. Is meeting in New Orleans today. Through Sunday. And yeah I guess we welcome everybody -- companies and that does something that's protected by freedom of speech. I may not agree with the message. We can't we can't go around banning messages that we disagree with because ultimately there's going to be a message that you agree with that somebody else wants to ban.
