Some things that render all of the gifts that you -- at -- I at least hope that you. A fill the true spirit of Christmas there where we're talking about that this morning if anything if anything happened to -- to you Christmas Eve or yesterday Christmas Day. That really made you feel like you experience the true. The true meaning of Christmas then I'd I'd love to upload your story vertical stories said this morning in you know for me it was a case of going to a a party Christmas Eve and I didn't have had everything for everybody I had a few presents for the people that I knew best there. But they were few people that I didn't know that well they did know me that well but he knew I was going and I was I was rather surprised that they had gifts for me. And instinctively I I felt guilty and that I realize that way if I feel guilty then. That I'm not enjoying to the real meaning of Christmas and it's not just about giving but it's also -- appreciating and learning how to a to receive something. And then I said tonight I didn't bring anything to depart I brought some gifts for few people bring that bring anything for the people who were having -- party. And I got a couple of text from people on a bashing me for showing up how -- I show up at a party without any thing in my hand it's proper etiquette to always bring something. Now the two parties and I went to yesterday EI BI did offering. On us a small gift to each of the people that did invite me over but I you know I was really I really felt like I experience Christmas. By being at the -- receiving end and not having anything to -- -- and I I think that's that's also part of it. I become happier when I give. Him when I receive and you may feel the same way. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't challenge ourselves to appreciate the the idea that somebody is giving to us. Because if we feel good whom we give to somebody else even if we don't get something else in return. Then by accepting the gift. Even if we don't have anything to give in return. We were giving them the opportunity to feel good in the same way that you and I feel good -- and justifying getting nice gifts and in not giving it. When you and -- I -- I I do I I have to admit that I've relieved as struggle a bye -- struggle with. Receiving -- and and I give -- Was there any unusual gift. If you got yesterday. What was the best gift what was the worst -- you got yesterday. There was a gift that was given this party -- -- doctors at Christmas Eve. Under the WL I stood in for Tommy Tucker there's a possibility that you're gonna get a package of late today because if a bad weather UPS and FedEx. Are delivering some packages a little bit late in. You know it really if you if you -- the package at the last minute due to bear some responsibility here the weather something that can't be controlled and it certainly is the fault of UPS or FedEx. This is also the conversation on our FaceBook page WWL radio on FaceBook. I'm here is a comment from Jeremy a day off to spend with family and friends you know sometimes it's it's. Sometimes it's it's it's easy to give somebody gift. Because that the UE that's at a tangible that sometimes it's more difficult to give of ourselves. It's easier to appreciate the exchanging of gifts the giving and receiving of gifts because that's a tangible process. What is a little bit more hidden in this whole celebration. Part some of the things that the -- so tangible. On the little things and here's another witness is from -- just having my family together. Was priceless. Here's another comment from -- Family and extended family getting together. So many of the things that really are the blessings of Christmas. Are the things that it that have nothing to do with the commercial material aspects of Christmas and I I've I've I've talked on the show leading up to Christmas are quite often about. The the war on Christmas and and I think it's more of media hype and it is reality because nobody can take Christmas away from you. Because what really defines Christmas lives in your heart in in your mind and that's not something that the government or liberals or anybody can can take from -- Here is attacks. About Christmas yesterday. I was happy because I got through Christmas dinner without beating the blank. Out of my liberal son in law. -- got to be tough on your conservative in your daughter marries a liberal that is going to be -- and I hope. I hope you didn't get into any political discussion yesterday because that just really goes nowhere and there -- those people that you. You know you don't see very often you see him at Christmas Thanksgiving you seem very seldom. And some people feel the need to tell you how they feel about politics. Religion or whatever and that really never. And really never goes very well you know yesterday one of the one of the dinners that are went to there was a priest there. The that the brother of the person who was having that the party he's he's a priest. And he was there -- did he get something that was. Very touched. Right before the -- -- uptight about that was considered a newsprint it'll tell you about that when we come back if you wanna join us with your comment our numbers 2601870. Toll free 8668890870. In a text number is 877. It's 830 on this chilly Thursday morning day after Christmas and here's another Debbie WL news updates we have Chris Hill. There's a story circulating in Texas. Is this it's coming from -- stars -- -- -- start. He -- opinion pieces for foxnews.com. And it's about a VA hospital that refuse to accept Christmas cards that had Merry Christmas on them because of what is written in. The Veterans Health Administration handbook. Now while this may have taken place it at one VA hospital I don't think this is a problem everywhere while I think it's wrong that they didn't accept these even existed happened. This guy yet ties -- and tries to and always make a big deal out of out of nothing and I don't know we we tried to find -- win the Veterans Health Administration handbook was written. But it wasn't necessarily written by the Obama administration -- we don't know that it could have been written before that so. The implication areas. It's the Obama administration that is telling VA hospitals not to accept cards that have Merry Christmas on them. Because that deals with the religious nature. Of Christmas. Which I personally think is absurd but -- I know that the history of for the tots aren't city. Wants to make a big deal out of this and get people all hysterical and I don't think there's anything to be hysterical about quality it's it's it's wrong to. A reject those that -- the cards were written by fourth graders. We sending into two veterans. We're trying to find that a little bit more about this again I don't think this is a widespread thing so again. No need to panic here's our WWL pretty jaguar opinion poll this morning. Was your Christmas better or worse than you expected we'll give you an update on that coming up in just a few minutes. -- here's a text that reads the best thing about Christmas. Is that my wife is still alive. The worst thing is is that she was too sick from chemo. To do anything. The good. Outweighs the bad. So when you when you think about maybe not getting exactly what you want for Christmas think about somebody when a Christmas. Like that and you know we talked about this leading up to Christmas there or there are a lot of people who really struggle. This time of year even if things are good they're people who struggle this time of year. But. There are things that happen in your life and Christmas achieve such a sentimental timed it tends to target our hearts anyway. It's not always easy to deal with this time of year if things are. -- or are not going right in your life for a year having a down moment in your life for whatever reason. So if you if you are having a tough time this holiday season it's it's gonna get better and you can always. You can always look with hope to the new year and an even though it's. On the calendar it's a fresh new start we just really kind of blend from one year to that next I mean our lives don't change that much the weekend. We can't change our mentality we'll talk more about that as we get closer to a New Year's Eve of the beginning of 2014. So I was at this senate this Christmas dinner yesterday. And it was a priest. And they asked him to say grace he would use the brother of the but that one of the people who was having a brother of the persons having the party. And the priest was was asked to say grace. Which I thought it was kind of rude -- meant I was kind of rude to ask him to say grace. And that's what he does for a living. This is job he's going to Christmas -- it would be like. A -- would you talk about the political dissent between the Republicans and the Democrats from Washington. So that was kind of rude asked appreciative to say. It's his it's great it's soft days -- -- -- that morning he said masse that morning gave a communion at the as the guided -- race at that entertainment. Anyway but he he where he read something it would that was acting is grace which I was really profound. He read about. How. Jesus really. Didn't have. The qualifications. That you would think that he would have in terms of education. In terms of training. I and it really it really made you think of Toronto would an extraordinary. Moment that once in just that the history of the world but I was really I was really touched by that and it. It if you do if you do believe then. -- it's. It it makes it eat it seem even more miraculous. As the son of god that he. He accomplished what he did and yet he really didn't seem to. To attempt the training that would have led him to do. I'm getting it -- from people who lives saved it it's very it's it's very complementary to ask. The priest. To say grace and I've made a comment a moment ago about the poor guy he did masse that morning he comes it is Christmas dinner in the economic think I work. By saying a prayer on a from Harvey junior -- to -- WL. Morning cool and happy Mary after Christmas CDU. Thank you I thought it would have been very appropriate it irked that he equivalent I'm a teacher a -- someone -- me about education hour. What school at at their channel black chill out on it it's a pleasure to give them my insight. And I was a bit it would have been hit -- at a blessing and very appropriate I don't know I usually agree that you -- -- -- and that. Jenna was being really little sarcastic and our guy Francisco condemning the poor -- he's he's culminated as you work but did you think about the pressure there's a priest sitting there -- -- that would advance smear somebody else to say the grace. I mean you went -- grace in the presence of a priest. Eighties and judging in the is that it's like. A habit you actually and that bill that cut the village and then out Latin hi there they're nervous they're rated -- -- Like an animal. -- I I do understand that and I was really just got to being sarcastic is not a I'm glad I didn't have to do because. A thinking that you know -- can be seen grace and he might be over there you know who annihilation this attitude -- -- -- and clear his lack. I don't go and a director skirmish. -- -- -- called up from Covington Greg -- and a VW well. Still a great observed shindig and that's a really cool thing. At the British child well -- And I ordered. -- things you alleged what you -- It really it is a good day -- it's I guess it's not something's at that there really is caught on here as much as it it shouldn't you know since we've we come from ultimately the UK. We we should celebrate boxing. I would beat him. Talk about. It and and those. Kids getting shot. And wage and when you -- Just like. Aids and equal out and touched our redundant when people actually. A couple of and a -- -- like. And I. -- so. Just that under the trees in the yeah. Their. Own their bowl. Out street will you -- -- -- that you went from feeling like a kid to being reminded that you're an old man let me tell us so I'm not all that you not -- at fifty and -- we're just I don't know about you but at this point in my life I'm enjoying life more now. I I I'm I'm I'm busy selling I'm taken back and relaxing at this -- my I'm enjoying life more now than ever before wished. Allow those feelings of being a child to be rekindled in them. And and I I hope. Yesterday if you were around kids opening presents I I hope you were able to. Two to rekindle those feelings of of what that was like when when you were a kid and that's I think one of the president's that we get today at Christmas time. Those feelings that we had when we were kids if you wanna join us with a comment -- numbers 2601870. Toll free 866889. Terribly silly text Amber's age 7870. Is a tech's -- -- Christmas was spoiled 'cause of UPS. Some presents are getting delivered late from UPS FedEx. Is UPS to blame. Let's set the record straight on that weakened back. 8:51 Thursday morning day after Christmas I'm scoot him for Tommy Tucker and here is another WWL traffic updates Gerald Robinson. If you work in retail or if you have worked in retail. What would you like to tell all those customers who are going to crowd stores today returning gifts. Or getting out there and turning their gift cards and cash into gifts from -- what what was it like to tell those people talk about that coming up in the next hour. Got a text them over to go for so it is said that his kids' Christmas. Was spoiled because of UPS. It's my understanding there was some bad weather around the country. And that's the reason that that that you PS didn't get all the gifts everybody on time and if you said something at the last minute. And you you're not leaving any room for error. Then maybe you should be manage yourself of uninsured Texans either recede just a moment ago. This text read so I was someone who was affected by the bad weather are you ordered something from Wal-Mart on line. And it was supposed to be delivered the day before Christmas for my wife. I was sold land. I called UPS upset I call Wal-Mart dot com told a few people off. My wife was like hey it's okay she was fine but I was man -- I didn't have anything for her. That night the commercial came on children's cancer. And it showed them and they were going through so much as kids. It made me think about. How I have six kids and they were all healthy for Christmas. And I was man over something so petty that commercial brought -- back to the reality of what Christmas. Is really about. Merry Christmas. I love hearing stories like that. Sometimes when you. We -- war. Are robbed of of that material exchange of gifts. You find the true meaning of Christmas and and I experience a terror over over the weekend audience it was a great weekend but it seemed like a weekend. A Christmas -- I've I've had a few gifts for a few people at a Christmas Eve gathering there was invited to but they were there were people there who had. Guess for me. And I didn't expect anything from them and -- I didn't expect anything from them I didn't have anything to give them. But that allowed me to two since the real spirit of Christmas. It's not only about giving but it's also about receiving. It's about I guess learning how to receive because it makes others feel good to give to -- if if anything happened do you Christmas Eve. You or your family. Are you saw any any example of that true Christmas spirit if anything made you feel. The true meaning of Christmas Christmas Eve or or yesterday I'd I'd love to hear that story we've heard some interesting stories it. I called earlier he was he was dumpster diving. For copper -- Copper pipes to sell because he was unemployed. A decent guy saw him yesterday Christmas Day. Face it could use a few dollars and said yes and he the -- Sergio reaches while he thought he was gonna get a dollar to. Guy gave in the twenty. And he said I was so touched by that he said if I get back on my feet I can't wait to be able to do that for somebody else. Sometimes the most generous people with those people who have lost something those people who have. Gone without. So. Think about the true meaning of Christmas and I hope you had a chance to experience that we'll get back to -- your calls coming up -- and -- him for Tommy -- on WWL.
