   Kristian Garic discusses the death of legendary former Pennsylvania State University head football coach Joseph Vincent "Joe" Paterno (December 21, 1926 – January 22, 2012). How will you remember Coach Paterno? On October 29, 2011, Paterno recorded his 409th career victory with a victory over the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. The achievement secured Paterno’s spot in college football history, as the victory passed former Grambling State University head coach Eddie Robinson’s record of 408 wins to become the winningest head coach in Division I college football. Paterno’s reputation would forever be tarnished when on November 5, 2011 former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was arrested on 40 counts stemming from the alleged sexual abuse of young boys over several years, including alleged incidents that occurred at Penn State. Though Paterno reportedly notified university officials of the events he had knowledge of, he was subsequently relieved of his duties on November 9, 2011.
